Unlike last year's rookie group, this class lacks a clear-cut franchise leader, and only a handful of quarterbacks are expected to go in the first round—possibly just two or three. Some experts have even compared it to the underwhelming 2022 class, when Pittsburgh selected Kenny Pickett.

As things stand, the Steelers appear to prefer sticking with Justin Fields or Russell Wilson under center next season. With free agency looming on March 12, bringing back one of them seems like the most logical move. If neither returns, Pittsburgh will have to explore other options, though rumors suggest they aren’t particularly thrilled with this year’s draft prospects.

Still, that doesn’t mean they won’t take a swing at a quarterback in the middle rounds. There are always potential gems who slip through the cracks, and one name that suddenly looks intriguing is Will Howard.

Will Howard’s Struggles at the NFL Combine Could Work in Pittsburgh’s Favor

Howard, who recently led Ohio State to a national championship, saw his draft stock take a hit after a rough showing at the NFL Combine. While he performed well in most drills, his passing session left much to be desired—his throws were late, inconsistent, and lacked precision.
