As the Pittsburgh Steelers deliberate their quarterback options for the upcoming season, NFL analyst Warren Sharp has strongly advised against re-signing Justin Fields. Sharp, of Sharp Football Analysis, labeled such a move a "terrible decision," asserting that Fields lacks the capability to lead the team to meaningful success in 2025. 

Sharp emphasized the challenges Fields would face in the competitive AFC North, which features elite quarterbacks like Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow. He expressed skepticism about Fields' ability to match up against these rivals, stating, "If [the Steelers] take Justin Fields at QB1 into a battle in the AFC North with quarterbacks like Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow and expect to have a ton of success, I think you're kidding yourself." 

This perspective comes amid reports that the Steelers are leaning toward retaining Fields over veteran quarterback Russell Wilson. Despite Wilson's contributions in leading the team to the playoffs last season, the Steelers are reportedly considering offering a multi-year deal to the younger Fields, who demonstrated solid performance with 1,106 passing yards, five touchdowns, and notable rushing statistics. 

However, Sharp's analysis suggests that re-signing Fields may not position the Steelers competitively within their division or the broader AFC landscape. As the free agency period approaches, the team's decision at quarterback will be pivotal in shaping their prospects for the 2025 season.
